Kate Cook
The pounding ravages of years of running were taking a toll on Kate’s body, when she was challenged to consider an exercise regime that required mental focus equal to the physical focus. Yoga was an experiment that produced surprising results. As stressed joints and muscles healed, the mental focus of the postures brought increased inner calm and serenity. With increased strength, flexibility, and balance, she found the physical benefits transferred to emotional and mental benefits of tranquility, increased self-awareness, and self-control. As one’s body engages in postures with strength and alignment, one’s inner core becomes open to mental, emotional, and spiritual alignment as well. In 2006 after seven years of personal exploration of various systems of Yoga, Kate became certified to teach. As a teacher and student of yoga she hopes to convey to others the multiple benefits of contemplative Asana practice as she nurtures a disciplined and safe practice. |

Brinda Ramaiya
What was a New Year's resolution to improve her posture and touch her toes turned into much more than Brinda Ramaiya ever expected. With a BS and MS in engineering and working as a project manager, Brinda began relieving the stresses of her job by taking yoga as a client at our studio. On a whim six months later, she stepped into her first Pilates mat class. Impressed by the difficulty and immense focus yet also enjoying fun that came from challenge, Brinda began practicing Pilates and yoga together. Never considering herself an athletic person, she began building more confidence in herself physically and mentally. Her passion for Pilates grew into a deeper desire to help others and share what she learned; she completed her mat certification in 2009 and is currently working toward her RYT 200 yoga certification. "Fitness has changed my life and made me a better person. I really enjoy teaching and helping people to experience what I feel every day!" |
